Why should we Re-Elect Donna to be Berlin and Southington’s State Representative?

Over time, our legislators have lost their way. They have forgotten that Connecticut used to thrive economically for businesses and families because we had a streamlined and efficient state government, very low taxes, and a friendly regulatory environment.  People and businesses would move here, thrive, and stay here.

Now, we are over-taxed and over-regulated. We worry more about state employee protections than about the tax and business climate that allows us to pay for those protections.  We worry more about criminals catching COVID-19 in prison than about what their early release does to our neighborhoods.  We worry more about the fees, licenses and regulations we can impose on a business, instead of thinking about that business thriving.  In short, we have to reverse the thinking in Hartford that has forced so many of our neighbors and businesses to flee the once ideal state of Connecticut.

What will Donna continue to do about it as your representative?

Donna will continue to focus her efforts in the legislature on the basic principles we need restored to support Connecticut's turnaround.  We do not need tax increases of any type, including any type of tolls.  No emergency taxes either.  We do need outside critical evaluations of every service the state provides to make sure it is done in the most cost-effective and prudent manner. We need to address our spending of all types in a critical manner before asking taxpayers for an additional penny.   We need to review every unfunded mandate the state has imposed on our towns, then requiring the town to pay for them. Including things the residents did not vote for.  This is just plain wrong.  We need to review all fees and licensing to ensure that they provide more than just revenue to the state; we need to ensure they are not needlessly stifling small business.   And how about we punish criminal for committing crimes, not law-abiding gun owners.
