Keeping Our Communities Safe Comes Through Fully Supporting Our Law Enforcement

My husband Jeff has been a Berlin police office for nearly 20 years, so I know first-hand how policies implemented in Hartford impact their ability to keep our communities safe. For the past two years, we've witnessed car theft crimes reach new heights with those individuals committing these crimes becoming more brazen and less fearful of their consequences.

Anyone who opens up a newspaper or turns on the television is bound to come across a story where someone’s car was stolen, a homeowner was shot at, or most recently where a victim was dragged attempting to stop a car theft in process.

Sitting back and saying this isn't an issue is failing to acknowledge there is a serious problem that needs addressing. It has to stop, the status quo can't continue. We need to enact meaningful solutions to keep our communities and residents safe. Our residents and those that are sworn to protect us deserve better.

The police accountability law and others aimed at weakening our judicial system must be repealed. We need to fully support and fully fund law enforcement. To do that, we need policies in place that don't make their jobs more difficult and our laws must be fair, equal and vigorously enforced. That will keep everyone safe

Send me back to Hartford so I can continue to support our law enforcement officers and other proposals that prioritize public safety.
